My daily commute involves about a four minute walk from our house, along a dirt path through a small wood, across a street, and over a rocky hill. This is the view on the final stages of the return trip.

Two of my favorite actors; Michael Cera (I still think of him as George Michael!) and Jay Baruchel at the opening of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist at Ryoerson Theatre as part of 2008 Toronto International Film festival.
They were too close so I shot these with my trusty 5D Canon EF100 lens. I still have a couple of weeks to try the Sony A700 and the crazy Zeiss 135 lens and am having a lot of fun with it so far.

This is London Heathrow's famous T5, which opened a few months ago, cost a few billion pounds and was a huge mess until pretty recently. I had no trouble going through it, except for the overzealous security agent who came yelling at me after literally five seconds of me taking my camera out of its bag... It's actually completely legal to take photos in airports, but those guys have force on their side, if not law. Stupid.

(I was originally going to call this one "phoning it in", stealing the title from another photoblog I follow.) I liked the potential of this picture when I took it... but in the end, it just didn't end up quite "there". I don't know if it's just the positioning of the globe (a 3/4 view with more of the stand might work better), or more even lighting on the globe itself. I like the look of the curtains, but I just didn't quite get this one where I wanted it. But I think it's good to sometimes put the less than perfect out there as well.

Port Orchard, Washington.
It's been a little while since I've added something to the photo journal, but this past weekend I had the opportunity to witness and photograph the weeding of Jennifer and Colton at Wisteria Gardens in Port Orchard. The location was beautiful with flowers, trees, and grass ... all made vibrant by the overcast weather. There was a little bit of rain in the beginning, but the sky opened up once the reception began. There are more images to come from this wedding, but this is a preview.

I'm just back from Chamonix, with great memories of my first real mountain trip (the right ridge of the Aiguille du Midi, aka "Arête des Cosmiques") and a twisted ankle. Here's the view of the Aiguille bathed in morning light. We had 60cm of fresh snow on it!

In the forest not too far from our house is a little path that ends at this reinforced door leading into... well, I am not exactly sure what. I have not come across any others—which isn't to say there aren't any around. But I honestly have no idea it is, or was, used for.
