Yes, now was the time for us to show up on the radio! It's in portuguese, but have a look: FrozenFlower on RR (with sound).

RTP2, the public portuguese television, did a piece on FrozenFlower!

We have two new features in FrozenFlower.

The first one is that tags don't go to technorati any more. When you press a tag, for example borboleta, FrozenFlower shows you all the photos with that tag.

The other feature is a photo history, that you can see in the right panel. Now you can go directly to a certain month to see what was in FrozenFlower then. Although FrozenFlower only started in the end of August 2007, we have photos from earlier than that, since we get all the photos in the feeds of the members.

I hope to have more new stuff soon, specially a new photographers page...

Wow, it's easy to get out of track whit so many requests to be part of FrozenFlower! And we are getting very good quality!

Portuguese photoblog divulges amateur photographers

Portuguese photographers, and others, have in the intrernet a place to divulge their work. FrozenFlower.net is a photoblog aggregator, founded by Nuno Barreto, a portuguese computer programmer and also a amateur photographer.

The main goal of the website is to divulge the work of new photographers, taking advantage of the potential of the internet. The project, which the founder says it's "the first of it's kind in all the world", makes photos available, most of them in a big resolution, with diverse themes. Not only that, but the users of the blog have links to the photoblogs of the photographers members of FrozenFlower.net.

So that there is a quality pattern in the website, not everyone can be part of FrozenFlower. The criteria to accept a new member involves that the candidate has a photoblog, in which photos must be at least 500px. The candidate is then submited to the previous members, who decide if the photographies have enough quality.

At the moment, FrozenFlower has 12 members: five portuguese, two canadians, one english, one irish, one japanese, one americam, and one swiss.

Some of the restrictions to the photography themes are proibition of pornography (nudity is allowed, if used with "good sense") and also any content that goes against human rights, or has any kind of violence or discrimination.

The website has some advertising, that Nuno Barreto justifies as necessary to support the maintenance of FrozenFlower.

John is our newest member, from California, with his great photoblog, John the photographer. Have a look at his great photographs.

We have new member from Switzerland, Stefan. Have a look at his fantastic blog, do it the visual way.

One more member: Arne Gulstene. You'll love his photoblog shutterview. He lives in Canada and loves to shoot in Black and White.

Marco Tajé is our newest member. His photoblog, L'occhio di vetro, has an excelent collection of black and white photos.

We have a new member, Nuno Ferreira, with his photoblog The Invisible Man.

Someone in my blog recommended him, and I asked him if he wanted to be part of FrozenFlower. He loved the idea, and after approval by the members of FrozenFlower, he was gladly included.

Today FrozenFlower.net was officially released!

What is the difference? Well, until now only a few people knew about FrozenFlower. But starting today, I will make it public in my blog and in several other places.

We have one more member, the first female photographer in the group. Ângela is a photography teacher in Porto, and her weblog is berlinde. She is one more of the initial invitations we sent.

Her photos are extremely good, lot's of quality there. Take a look, you won't regret.

Gavin Mullan was the first to ask for membership! I was not expecting that to happen before the official launch, so it was a very nice surprise.
